Shared Education -ICT/Numeracy

24th Feb 2026

Today’s Shared Education session with Killyman Primary School was a fantastic success. The boys and girls from both schools worked collaboratively on BBC Microbits to design and create their own games. The session was delivered by Sentinus and provided an excellent opportunity to combine ICT and numeracy skills in a practical, engaging way.

Pupils demonstrated very strong ICT capability throughout the workshop. They confidently programmed, debugged and tested their games, showing a growing understanding of sequencing, variables and logical thinking. The numeracy element was embedded naturally within the tasks, as pupils applied problem-solving skills, patterns, coordinates and number concepts within their coding.

It was particularly encouraging to see the level of teamwork and cooperation on display. Pupils worked extremely well in mixed-school groups, communicating clearly, sharing ideas and supporting one another to overcome challenges. There was excellent coordination within groups, with roles emerging naturally and everyone contributing meaningfully to the task.

The session not only strengthened digital skills and numeracy understanding, but also fostered positive relationships between both schools. It was clear that pupils were highly engaged, motivated and proud of their finished games.

Overall, this was a very worthwhile and impactful Shared Education experience, successfully promoting collaboration, creativity and cross-curricular learning.
