School Council Meeting - Term 2
Date: 20 March 2026
Attendees: All School Council members present
1. Welcome and Overview
A positive and productive meeting took place with full attendance from the School Council. All members contributed valuable feedback regarding current initiatives and future projects within the school.
2. AR Returns Scheme
Older School Council members reported that the Accelerated Reader (AR) returns system continues to work well. The vast majority of pupils are now using the designated return basket effectively.
3. Request for Catch Nets
The Council raised a further request for catch nets. Action: Mrs Rice will bring this request to Mr Wylie for consideration.
4. Eco Council Collaboration
Mrs Rice informed the Council that a joint initiative with the Eco Council will take place. Every child in the school will have the opportunity to take part in gardening activities prior to the Easter break.
5. Upcoming School Trip
Mrs Rice updated the members on the plans for the upcoming school trip. The itinerary will include:
A visit to Drumcoo Recycling Centre, followed by a tour of the Council Offices and finishing with a picnic at Dungannon Park. The children are excited about the trip and they are looking forward to the planned activities.
6. Sports Day Contributions
Council members shared that they would like to help with providing snacks for Sports Day. This idea was well received and will be discussed further during future planning - Action: Mrs Rice will inform staff and PSG of the committee members kind offer.
